Introduction [Biosketch]

  • Taimoor Khan (SM-17, M-14, GSM-11) awarded his PhD Degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from NIT Patna in 2014. Dr. Khan joined the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, NIT Silchar, India as an Assistant Professor in the same year and presently he is working as an Associate Professor. In addition, he worked as a Visiting Researcher at Queen’s University Canada in 2019 and a Visiting Assistant Professor at Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand in 2016. Before joining NIT Silchar, he served different organizations for more than 14 years during 2001-2014 including Delhi Technological University for more than three years. His active research interests include Ambient RF Energy Harvesting, Wireless Power Transfer via Microwave, Ultra-Wideband Antenna Technologies, Electromagnetic Bandgap Structures and Dielectric Resonator Antennas and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Techniques for Modeling and Optimization of Electromagnetics and Antenna Problems. He has successfully guided seven Ph.D. Theses and published 86 International Journal Articles, 69 International Conference Articles, 03 Indian Patents, and 06 Authored/Edited Books. Also, he has successfully completed 06 Funded Research Project and presently Executing 02 International Collaborative SPARC and VAJRA projects with Queen’s University Canada and California State University, Northridge, USA, respectively. He is a Fellow of IEI, Fellow of IETE, Fellow of ATMS, Life Senior Member WAMS, Senior Member of IEEE, IEEE AP Society, IEEE MTT Society and URSI Belgium and Life Member of ACES. Dr. Khan is accompanying as an Associate Editor with IET Electronic Letters, Associate Editor with a Hindawi-Wiley’s International Journal of RF and Microwave Computer Aided Engineering and Editorial Board Member of Nature’s Scientific Reports. He is the recipient of the ISTE Syed Sajid Ali National Award for the year 2022 for Outstanding Research Work in the Field of Renewable Energy and IETE Professor SVC Aiya Memorial Award for the year 2020 for providing excellence guidance in the field of electromagnetic and microwave engineering. Dr. Khan is the Founder of IEEE MTT Society SBC at NIT Silchar (2019), Founder Chair of IEEE Silchar Subsection (2021), Founder General Chair of IEEE Silchar Subsection Conference, SILCON-2022, General Chair of SILCON-2023 and Organizing Chair of SILCON-2024, Founder Chair of IEEE Kolkata Section APS Chapter-Silchar (2023). Also, he served as an IEEE AP-S Chapter Activity Committee Member (2022), IEEE AP-S Paper Awards Subcommittee Member (2022), IEEE AP-S Chapter Award Committee Member (2022) and Immediate Past Chair, IEEE Silchar Subsection for the year 2023 and 2024. Presently he is serving as a Chair of IEEE Kolkata Section APS Chapter-Silchar, Faculty Advisor of IEEE MTTS Student Branch Chapter, IEEE APS Paper Award Committee Member, IEEE APS Education Committee Member and IEEE MTTS Education Committee Member, all for the year 2025.

    • 2022: ISTE-Syed Sajid Ali National Award 2022, ISTE New Delhi
    • Dr. Khan is the recipient of ISTE Syed Sajid Ali National Award for the year 2022 in recognition of his outstanding contribution in the area of Radio Frequency (RF) Energy Harvesting. It was conferred in 52nd Annual Convention of ISTE on 12th Feb 2024 in Kalaburagi, Karnataka.
    • 2020: IETE-Prof. SVC Aiya Memorial Award 2020, IETE New Delhi, India
    • Dr. Khan was recipient of a prestigious IETE-Prof SVC Aiya Memorial Award for the year 2020 for providing excellence guidance in the field of electronics and telecommunication research work particularly related to electromagnetic and microwave engineering. This award is instituted by the students of Prof S.V. Chandrashekhar Aiya in memory of their professor at IISc Bangalore. The Award is bestowed annually by IETE India to a person for providing excellence guidance in the field of electronics and telecommunication research work particularly related to electromagnetic and microwave engineering during the past five years. Dr. Khan was the luckiest one to receive this award for the year 2020 in 63rd Annual IETE Convention held on 27th September 2020.
